Idáfá
(Divination)
Idáfá is the sacred process of divination in Ifá and Isese tradition, conducted by a trained priest (Babaláwo or Ìyánífá). It involves consulting Ifá through sacred tools like ikin (palm nuts) or the Òpèlè chain to uncover spiritual insights, identify challenges, and prescribe solutions. Idáfá serves as a communication bridge between humans and the divine, revealing guidance from Orunmila and other spiritual forces.
Ẹbọ
(Sacrifice/Offering)
Ẹbọ is the ritual act of offering sacrifices or gifts to appease, honor, or request assistance from the Òrìṣà, ancestors, or other spiritual entities. It is prescribed during idáfá as a means to resolve problems, align with destiny, and restore spiritual balance. Ẹbọ can involve materials like food, animals, or symbolic items, accompanied by prayers and rituals tailored to the seeker’s needs.
Together, idáfá and ẹbọ form a holistic process of diagnosis and spiritual intervention in Ifá practice.
